Two wet spells in a mild year
On average, February is the wettest month at the Parramatta North (Masons Drive) station, with 136 mm, and March stays wet behind it. Rain then thins out through autumn until June interrupts with a wetter month than May or July. After that comes the quietest run of the year: July and September average 48 mm each, and August, the driest month, 47 mm.
The average daily maximum at the station rises every month from August to January, the warmest month at 29.1°C, then falls every month from March to June, with no month breaking the pattern the way June breaks the rain's. July holds the coolest nights, averaging 6.3°C. The station averages 931 mm of rain in a year.
May and October, level in rain
At Parramatta North, autumn is the wetter season, with 239 mm against spring's 191 mm, and its rain falls each month from March to May. Spring starts from a dry September, and its rain rises through October and November. The two seasons share one figure: May, autumn's last month, and October, spring's middle month, both average 61 mm.
Pests and weather, from public sources
Termites
New colonies begin when winged termites leave the nest in a colonising flight. The Australian Museum says these flights happen in warm, humid weather, mostly in spring and autumn.
Australian MuseumCockroaches
The Better Health Channel says cockroaches do best where conditions are warm, humid and unhygienic.

“Mosquitoes need water to breed, and some mosquitoes can breed in very small amounts of water.”
NSW HealthTicks
Ticks can be found in any month. The Australian Government’s health advice puts the usual tick season at July to December, and says it differs from place to place.

In New South Wales, the law requires anyone doing prescribed pesticide work to hold a licence, and pest management technician licences come from the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA). NSW EPA
The EPA also accepts some similar licences issued in other states and territories, though not those issued in Queensland. NSW EPA
